Doesn't Worthington have a new park planned near the airport? How much did it cost, and will it be affected by the expansion?
Yes, the parkland cost the city between $350,000 and 550,000. Yes, the expansion will push the
airport's restricted area into our parkland.
Yes, the city paid between %350,000 to 550,000 for the land, and more for the park planning and
construction. With addtional hangars and more aircraft using the airport, the use will push the
airport's restricted area outward into our park, especially with the requirements for no lights near
the restricted areas, if there are night flights. A park without lighting would be a park that the
public could not safely use during evening hours. See the "New airport drawings" on the
Quick Links section of the WOOSE website homepage.
