Letter to the Editor: Candidates share views on OSU Airport Expansion
Worthington News, November 2, 2005

To the Editor:

We Oppose Ohio State airport Expansion submitted questionnaires
to all political candidates in jurisdictions impacted by the Ohio
State University Airport.

To read the completed questionnaires and learn more about the
candidates' positions on the proposed expansion of the Ohio State
University's Airport visit www.woose.org. And remember to vote on
Tuesday.

The following is a brief summary of the responses.

Worthington City Council candidates John Butterfield, Mike Duffey, Lou
Goorey and Doug Holmes questionnaire responses indicate they oppose
the extension of the north runway and development of jet aircraft
hangars. These four support mitigation to the 55dB DNL noise level, a
Part 150 Noise Study and an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for
the current problems.

Courtney Chapman was unable to provide yes or no answers to questions
concerning the runway and jet hangar development. He supports
mitigation only to the 65dB DNL level and only supports study if
construction proceeds.

Sharon Township Trustee candidates John Haueisen and John Oberle were
the only two candidates whose responses indicate they are against
runway and jet hangar development and in favor of more study.

Edward Johnston is against runway extension and for additional study,
but undecided about jet hangars.

Mark Allen is against runway and hangar development but did not
respond to the question concerning additional study.

The incumbent, David Bachelor, and candidates Micheal Fagan and Collen
Kent did not respond to the questionnaire.

It is important to mention John Haueisen is a WOOSE member and has
been named a Consulting Party by the FAA to comment on airport impacts
on Worthington's historic sites.

To read the completed questionnaires and learn more about the
candidates' positions on the proposed expansion of the Ohio State
University's Airport visit www.woose.org.
