Between April 20th and the Memorial Tournament, the WOOSE complaint
system had approximately 75 confirmed complaints (events reported by
three or more individuals). The oldest of these complaints is 46 days
old. None of these has yet received a response as pledged by Airport
Director Doug Hammon.
During the week of the Memorial Tournament, approximately 75 new
confirmed complaints were filed. The times of these complaints ranged
from 6:30 AM to 11 PM, most in the evening hours, and had as many as
twelve individuals reporting a single event.
Now imagine the Memorial Tournament every week. This is what will
likely happen if the airport is expanded. In public records released
to WOOSE, we have found the aviation industry has clearly told OSU
that if the airport is expanded, they will increase their flights.
Statistics and confirmed complaint information can be found in the
information bar to the right of the Aircraft Complaint System home
page at http://www.woose.org/acs/
WOOSE has also discovered that on Tuesday morning of the Memorial
Tournament, fire and rescue services were unavailable at the airport
for about one hour due to equipment problems. This failure during one
of the busiest days of the year for the airport raises great concerns
about the safety of the operations.
Your continued vigilance is necessary to stop this ill-advised
expansion. It is only through the efforts of the many WOOSE
volunteers like you that we can curb the inappropriate corporate
growth at Don Scott field.
